David L. Wallingford, 59, of Lockridge, lost his battle with AML Leukemia Friday, August 30, 2019 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Born June 13, 1960, in Fairfield, IA, he was the son of Edward Wallingford and Elaine Young.

WALLINGFORD

David grew up in Burlington, until joining the Army in 1977. He served one tour in Korea in 1978-79. Upon returning, he then joined the Navy for a short time. He was also a Sergeant in the National Guard out of South Carolina, as well as a Correctional Officer.

David loved any and all trains, old movies, and tinkering around on old cars. He had a love for foreign foods, and classic rock music. David was also proud to be a veteran who served his country. He believed in firmly protecting people.

Survivors include two brothers, Donald Wallingford of Davenport, Jason Wallingford of Yucaipa, CA; three sisters; Debbie Brands of Fort Madison, Teresa Wallingford of Nevada, IA, Sharon (Rusty) Wallingford Lee of Yucaipa, CA; one step-sister, Debbie (Mike) Belknap of Burlington; two daughters, Joyce (Adam) Koch of Rock Hill, S.C., Sarah Wallingford of Fairfield; one son, David Wallingford Jr., of Fairfield; a close cousin Aaron (Chrystal) Jackson of Morning Sun; and friend Tonya Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, parents and one sister.

He was laid to rest at the Keokuk National Cemetery. A memorial service will be set at a later date.
