FORT MADISON – Fort Madison Community Hospital (FMCH) will host the next session in their monthly community health education series on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. This session entitled “Understanding Osteoporosis & Your Risk” will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at FMCH in the Business Center Conference Rooms.
Dr. Yadira Garcia, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, will discuss how osteoporosis develops, who is at risk of osteoporosis and steps you can take to care for your bones.
Osteoporosis is a disease of your bones. It causes the density and quality of your bones to become reduced. The loss of bone occurs silently and progressively. It affects both men and women. Osteoporosis increases your risk of fractures which can have a big impact on your quality of life.
Dr. Garcia is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist. She joined the FMCH Women’s Center team in July of 2018. Dr. Garcia completed her Residency at Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
