Holy Trinity girls sweep WACO

FORT MADISON - Holy Trinity Catholic's girls volleyball team moved to 18-7 overall and 5-2 in the Superconference with a sweep of WACO on Thursday night at home.

The Crusaders are ranked 8th in Class 1A in Thursday's latest state volleyball rankings.

WACO proved to be tough through all three games as HTC won 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.

Maria Rauenbuehler dug up 25 balls in the match to lead the Crusaders defensively. Claire Pothitakis and Kassi Randolph did the damage at the net with a combined 23 kills. Randolph was 31 of 24 hitting, while Pothitakis went 37-47 on attacks.

Randolph also led Crusaders from the service line going a perfect 16-16 with an ace. She had 17 digs. Maille Sheerin was 19-20 serving with three aces.

Avery Hopper and Bailey Hellweg each had three blocks on the night.

The Crusaders travel to West Burlington on Tuesday night for tough matchup with the Lady Falcons.
