DONNELLSON - Dalton Westercamp broke free for a 19-yard touchdown run with just 1:18 left in the game to give Central Lee its first win of the year Friday night at home over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

Westercamp had one of his best nights of the year rushing for 210 yards on 34 carries and three scores. Junior Mason Schau had the other score when he picked off a Rocket pass and scampered 31 yards to the endzone to start the scoring with 6:01 left in the first period.

The point-after attempt was blocked and the Hawks had a 6-0 lead, but it was short-lived as the Hawks' special teams suffered a setback on the ensuring kickoff allowing a 76-yard return for a touchdown. E-B-F converted the PAT and led 7-6.

Westercamp would then score his first touchdown of the night with 1:13 left in the first period after a sustained drive by Central Lee. Westercamp got free from the 16 and ran into the endzone, but the Hawks would again miss on the extra point try to lead 12-7.

EBF would score twice in the final three minutes, first on a 22-yard touchdown pass at the 3:08 mark and then would score again on a 25-yard scoring strike with no time left on the clock in the first half. Both PATs were good and the Rockets held a 21-12 halftime lead.

The Hawks' defense would rise to the occasion in the 2nd half shutting the Rockets down, while Westercamp would rumble for a 4-yard score with 7 minutes left in the third period and again in the fourth to seal the win.

The Hawks abandoned the extra point kicks in favor of 2-point conversions, which were successful on both second half touchdowns.

Quarterback Adam Boeck was 1 for 8 on the night with a pick and a 2-point conversion toss to TJ Stutes.

Stutes had 109 yards on just eight carries for 13.6 average. Boeck had 41 yards on 11 rushes. David Vance led the defensive effort with 4.5 tackles. Evan Pohren and Nick Stuecker each had four on the night. Bryce Finney, Schau, and Dylan Stuecker all had interceptions for Central Lee.

The Hawks are 1-7 on the year and wrap up the season with a trip to Davis County (2-5) on Friday night. EBF falls to 3-5 on the season and plays at Williamsburg the same night.
