INDIANAPOLIS – The Lee County Economic Development Group won a Gold Excellence in Economic Development Award for Lee County EDG Website Development in the 25,000 – 200,000 population category, from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
The honor was presented at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 15th, during the IEDC Annual Conference, which was held October 13th-16th, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Lee County EDG launched their website refresh in June of 2019. “The new website has a clean uncluttered design, an improved functionality for the viewer. With this refresh we now have the ability to keep it updated ourselves and we’ve added enhanced content, utilizing graphics and images from our programs and industries to better tell our story,” said Economic Development Project Director Dana Millard.
The IEDC received over 480 submissions from around the world for 34 categories of awards, with gold being the highest award in each category.
Lee County EDG will also host an IEDC webinar: Creating a Website for Success on Wednesday, October 23rd.
The IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards program recognizes the world’s best economic development programs, marketing materials and the year’s most influential leaders.
The Website category honors communities and organizations that are using the web as an effective marketing tool to promote services and offer information to clients. They are judged on quality of content, interactivity, timeliness of information, navigability, and overall value for economic development efforts.
This is the second Gold award Lee County EDG has received, the first was in 2017 for Grow Lee. Lee County EDG also received the award for Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) Overall Program in 2016, 2017, and 2019 from the Professional Developers of Iowa. The award recognizes the outstanding efforts of local and regional economic development initiatives in supporting growth and expansion of existing Iowa companies.
