Fort Madison girls doubled up by Ottumwa

OTTUMWA - Ottumwa's senior twins Ali and Grace Bookin-Nosbisch combined for 26 points as the Lady Bulldogs handed the Fort Madison girls their first loss of the year.

The Hounds got behind early as Ottumwa had three different girls converting 3-pointers in the first quarter and rushed out to a 15-5 first quarter lead.

Fort Madison would tighten up on defense in the 2nd quarter holding the Bulldogs to just eight points, but only managed six themselves.

Senior Anna Kester led Fort Madison with 10 points on the night and Kylee Cashman had four points in the first half for the Bloodhounds.

Ottumwa would put the game out of reach in the third period exploding for 24 behind nine points from Kacy Nickerson to hold a 44-18 lead, and would push that lead in the fourth quarter for the 64-32 loss.

Brandy Walker had nine points for Fort Madison. Dalyn Wondra and Cashman each had four. Molly Knipe had three points and Nadia Boeding scored a bucket in the second half to round out the scoring for Fort Madison.

Nickerson had 17 to lead all scorers for Ottumwa.

Fort Madison (1-1) hosts Davis County on Tuesday at the HoundDome.
