LEE COUNTY – The following is a list of current events and happenings in Fort Madison and north Lee County as submitted to the Pen City Current. These listings are updated throughout the week and run in our E-edition regularly.

The Enchanted Forest
The Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Enchanged Forest again this year in the Old Lee County Bank Building at 803 Avenue G. Businesses have sponsored Christmas trees that will be on display each Saturday before Christmas from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Santa's Shop
The Santa's Shop at St. Paul Lutheran Church on 20th Street and Avenue I, will be open the general public on Monday and Tuesday Dec. 16th and 17th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for last-minute Christmas shopping. All proceeds go to the PAW Animal Shelter.

Tree of Love Gatherings
Lee County Health Department is once again hosting a series of gatherings to help and support those dealing with the loss of a loved one over the holidays. Each Event is Wednesday’s during the month of December from 2 to 3 p.m. at #3 John Bennett Drive in Fort Madison. Call 372-5225 for more information.

Partners Annual Dinner
The Fort Madison Annual Dinner is set for Feb. 21, 2020.

Winter Wedding Preview
Small Grand Things, just south of West Point on West Point Road will be holding a Winter Wedding Preview from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 14.

Fish Fry Benefit
The Fort Madison Elks Club will be hosting a Fish Fry as a fundraiser to benefit Kirby and Theresa Marsden and their employees on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fish will be from the Quality Fisheries in Niota that burned Dec. 3. A 50/50 raffle and bake sale will also be held. Dine in or Take Out. Call 372-3724 for take out.

Weekly Book Sale
Friends of the Fort Madison Public Library is holding a weekly book sales from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. on Thursday’s at the Public Library.

Immunization Clinic
Lee County Health Department will be holding a Children’s Immunization Clinic Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2330 Plank Road in Keokuk from 1:00 pm until 4:30 p.m. The clinic is open to children who have no insurance, are insured by Iowa Medicaid (MCO) or those who have private health insurance that does not cover the cost of vaccines. No appointment is necessary. Written parental consent is required for minors to receive vaccinations when in the care of another adult. (Please visit our website for a consent form.) Free lead testing is available for all children ages 6 months to 6 years who reside in Iowa.

Kensington events
The Kensington is offering Senior’s Only Community Bingo on the second Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m. The event is free for seniors and cash prizes are awarded. Caregivers Connection is held the 4th Tuesday of every month at noon. Call 319-372-4233 to reserve your seat.

LCHD Health Clinics
A senior health clinic will be held on Dec. 10 at Mississippi Terrace in Keokuk from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and at Hillview Village in Fort Madison from 10:30 a.m. to noon. On Dec. 12 clinics will be held at River Terrace in Keokuk from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. as well as an Immunization Clinic from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodis Church.

FM Day at Carver Hawkeye
It will be Fort Madison Day at Carver Hawkeye Arena on Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. Tickets for the game include a t-shirt for $15 for adults and $10 for children. A bus ticket for a Trailways ride to the game is $5. Tickets can be purchased through Dec. 11 at the Partners office.

Ornament workshop
The Fort Madison Public Library is hosting a Christmas Ornament Workshop on Dec. 24 from 9:30 to noon at the library with a visit from Santa Claus.

Blackhawk Winter Skills Camp
The 2019 Blackhawk Baseball Winter Break Skills and Evaluation Camps will be held Friday and Monday Dec. 27th and 30th. Youth MVP camp and an Advanced & Evaluation Camp will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 13-18 at Loren Walker Arena. Cost is $75 for both days. Cost is $75 for both days. Cook the Book
The Fort Madison Public Library is hosting a Cook the Book featuring Christmas recipes from around the world on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the library.

Roarin' in the 20s
Small Grand Things will be hosting a Roarin' in the the 20s New Year's Eve Dance from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the venue located south of West Point on West Poin Road.

Baxter Sports Complex Fundraiser
The 3rd annual Baxter Sports Complex Social Tour and Auction Fundraiser on Feb. 29, 2020. Tickets will be on sale soon at the sports complex.
