Fort Madison man faces arson charges

FORT MADISON - A Fort Madison man is facing arson charges after allegedly setting fire to garage in the early morning hour of Oct. 14.

Fort Madison Police Chief Mark Rohloff released the man's name Monday afternoon.

Cody Sheridan Collins, 29, of Fort Madison, was charged Monday with one count of Arson 1st Degree, a class B Felony, and one count of Reckless Use of Fire, a Serious Misdemeanor. Collins is currently being held at the Lee County Correctional Center.

The arrest stems from a joint investigation conducted by the Fort Madison Fire and Police Departments, of an October 24th, 2019, fire of a garage at 606 Avenue E. The structure was a total loss, and also damaging a second garage located to the east.

No injuries were reported.
