Patricia C. Arie, 87, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 1:56 AM on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Great River Medical Center.

She was born on June 21, 1932 in Ft. Madison to Joseph and Frances McMahon Fitzgerald.On October 23, 1954 she married Kenneth Bergmeier and he passed away in April of 1982.She then married James E. Arie on June 7, 1986 and he passed away November 18, 2007.Patricia was a PBX Operator for the Santa Fe Railroad for several years.She then spent many years as a full time homemaker until working and then retiring from the Lee County Clerks office.Patricia was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Altar & Rosary Society, and the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking many great meals for her family.

   Survivors include a son, Stephen (Jenny) Bergmeier of Athens, OH; two daughters, Frances (Fred) Barber of Trophy Club, TX and Catherine (Chris) Weide of Glenwood, IA; five  grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a step daughter, Christine (Doug) Smith of Thousand Oaks, CA; a step son, Bill Arie of Kenosha, WI; five step grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; one brother; one sister; one half brother; one half sister. 

   Friends may call after 2 PM on Friday, December 27, 2019 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4-5 PM.   There will be a rosary recited at 3:30 PM at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
