KEOKUK - The Bloodhounds seemed to have poked the proverbial bear Friday night rushing out to a 15-9 first quarter lead. But the six-point lead wasn't close to being enough as Keokuk came back for a 62-42 win at home Friday in boys basketball action.

Junior Anthony Potratz, who's averaging just under 14 points per game, exploded for 23 points to lead Keokuk in the comeback win. Classmate Isaiah Seay fired in 11 and Boone Messer had 10, six in the fourth quarter for the Chiefs.

After the good start, Fort Madison put up just four points in the second quarter, as Potratz and Seay brought the Chiefs back with a combined 13 points in the period.

Keokuk put up 17 in the second and 17 again in the third, while the Chiefs defense held Fort Madison to just 11 points over the same stretch.

Fort Madison sophomore Dayton Davis got hot in the fourth with 10 of the Bloodhounds 16, but it wasn't enough to wipe out the 34 to 11 advantage the Chiefs had built in the second and third periods.

Davis finished with 15 points for the Hounds, while senior Jayden Fedler put in 10. Michael Mosena had six for Fort Madison, Jace Burgher had five points and Romeo Maestro, Miles Dear and Parker Denning all had two points to round out the Hounds scoring.

Tyjai Mueller and Callum Tackes each had five points for Keokuk.

The Chiefs (3-2) play at Clark County today, while Fort Madison hosts Burlington Notre Dame on Monday night at the Hound Dome.
