Joan Lee Stevenson Pumphrey Walker, 87, of Denmark, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 7:45 AM at her home.
She was born on January 26, 1932 in Denmark to Milo and Inez Patten Stevenson. On April 12, 1954 she married Harold Pumphrey in Denmark and he passed away on November 16, 1993. She then married Randall Walker on January 6, 2005. She worked at GE, Motorola and also Beebe’s Greenhouse. Joan was a member of Harmony Bible Church. She enjoyed quilting,gardening, cooking and baking. Joan volunteered at the Great River Hospice House by making her delicious cookies for them for several years. Every week she would make a meal and take it to someone. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Joan had a heart of gold and was a friend to many. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Randall Walker of Denmark; two daughters, Peg Bozarth of Ft. Madison and Carol (Nate) Gray of Bethany, MO; one son, Steve Pumphrey of Ft. Madison; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one the way; three step children, Lance (Gina) Walker of Burlington, Jill (John) Fullenkamp of Danville and Lonn (Beth) Walker of Mt. Pleasant; six step grandchildren; six step grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Jean Coxon of Longwood, FL; one brother, Richard Stevenson of Monroe City, MO; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Harold; her son, Chad; and a brother, Robert Stevenson.
The family will meet with friends from 1-3 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Matt Yaley officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Denmark Cemetery.
