Grayhounds sweep double dual at BHS pool

BURLINGTON - The Burlington Grayhound swimmers swept a double dual meet at the Burlington High School on Monday night.

Burlington downed Keokuk 90-15 and Centerville 83-21.

The Grayhounds earned 11 1st places at the meet including a bang-bang finish in the 200 individual medley where BHS's Cade Hillyer edged out teammate Nathan Parks by .38 seconds. Hillyer finished at 2:10.81 just ahead of Parks 2:11.19.

Wyatt Helman won the 50 free at 24.75 just head of Grayhound Colby Geiger at 24.82. Jacob Mohrfeld won the 100 fly with a time of 58.97 followed by teammate Taden Jameson at 1:07.16.

Logan Crank won the 100 free at 55.76 ahead of Jacob Venvertloh at 57.52.

The Grayhounds also got a first place finish from Geiger, Jameson, Jordan Watznauer and Parks in the 200 relay in 1:40.88 just .24 seconds ahead of the Grayhounds Mohrfeld, Smith, Will Davidson and Hillyer at 1:41.12.

Morhfeld raced to another first place in the 100 back stroke with a time of 1:00.84. Watznauer took first in the 100 breast stroke, and Hellman, Venvertloh, Macomber and Mohrfeld took the boys 400 relay at 3:46.98.

Keokuk got firsts against BHS swimmers from Dylan Jones in the 100 free and 100 breast, and Kaiden Stoneking in the 500 free.
