FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison girls basketball team used some early perimeter shooting and a second half inside game to down visiting Burlington 49-25 in Thursday girls basketball action.

The Lady Hounds got a season high 16 from Nadia Boeding all in the first half, as Head Coach Tony Sargent moved to a perimeter offensive strategy with post player Brandy Walker out with three fouls and just four points.

Boeding hit on back-to-back three pointers and went 4-of-6 from the free throw line. She got to the line after keeping several points alive inside the lane, with the Hound post players on the bench or in the stretch offense.

Fort Madison jumped out to a quick 17-8 first quarter lead with Boeding accounting for 10 of the points. Camille Kruse hit a 3-ball from the right baseline to go with a couple of free throws for five points as Fort Madison pushed the lead to 13 at 28-15 going into the lockerroom.

Sargent put Walker back in the game and the junior responded with 13 second half points to help Fort Madison put the game away.

Walker led all scorers with 17 points, followed by Boeding's 16 and Kruse's 11. Kylee Cashman had three points and Molly Knipe added a bucket to round out the Hounds scoring.

Angel Baylark had 12 points to lead Burlington and MacKenzie Kearns added eight.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak that's been interrupted by winter weather. The Hounds now stand at 5-8 on the year. The Hounds took on Class 2A 11th-ranked Mediapolis on Saturday at the Hound Dome.
