FAIRFIELD - The Fort Madison girls basketball team has been in almost every game this year and Thursday had a chance to knock off Fairfield, but a second half rally by the Trojans sent the Hounds home with a loss.

Fort Madison (5-11) held Fairfield to just 19 points in the first half and at one point had a 15 point lead in the second half, but couldn't shut the door falling 47-46.

Fairfield's Shaylin Drish scored 11 points in the the second half to lead the Trojan comeback. She led all scorers with 24 on the night.

Nadia Boeding put up nine to lead Fort Madison to a 29-19 first half lead, but Fort Madison couldn't bottle up Drish as the Trojans methodically cut away at the Hounds lead in the fourth quarter.

Fort Madison had actually extended their lead to 14 at the end of the third but Fairfield rattled off a 10-2 run through the first seven minutes of the fourth to cut the lead to six at 45-39.

Fort Madison would only manage a free throw the rest of the way and Fairfield would score four points in the final 30 seconds to sneak out with the win.

Fort Madison was led by Boeding with 14. Brandy Walker had nine, Camille Kruse had seven, Sara Bernhart finished with six points, Molly Knipe and Kylee Cashman each had three, and Dalyn Wondra and Anna Kester each had two points to round out the Hounds scoring.
