FM man nabbed on felony meth charge

FORT MADISON - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of a Fort Madison man on Felony and Misdemeanor drug charges.

Benjaman Steven Hobbs, 34, of Fort Madison, Iowa was arrested on January 28th, 2020 in the 4000 of Ave O in Fort Madison. Hobbs is charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver over 5 grams of methamphetamine a class B felony, Drug Tax Stamp Violation a class D felony, Possession of Marijuana a serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a simple misdemeanor.

The arrest of Hobbs stems from a medical call in which the Fort Madison Police Department responded and located several items indicative of narcotics usage. Lee County Narcotics Task Force Investigators were contacted and furthered the investigation in reference to the items located.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Fort Madison Police Department assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation.

The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Justice and the funds administered by the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.
