ELDON - The Holy Trinity boys team held off a crazy 9-point final minute rally by Cardinal to escape town with a 51-50 win Thursday in Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball action.

Holy Trinity was up by as much as 11 in the first half and carried a 29-20 lead into the locker room, but Cardinal wiped out the lead in the third period outscoring the Crusaders 13-6 and headed into the final period down by just two.

The Crusader would extend the lead to nine at three different points of the final quarter, the last being with just a minute left, but Cardinal would throw up nine points led by Griffin Greiner's five to make a run at the comeback.

HTC would get a free throw late in the game that would prove to be the difference.

Jason and Vasin Thurman combined for 27 points to lead HTC with 13 and 14 respectively. Matt Hellige added 11, while Quentin Schneider and Chandler Rung scored six.

Cardinal was led by sophomore Landon Becker who had a game-high 19 on the night.
