WEST BURLINGTON -The annualSoutheastern Community College (SCC) FoundationGreat Tastesevent is rescheduled to take place Friday,May 1,at the PZAZZ! Entertainment Complex in Burlington, Iowa. The benefit begins at 6 p.m with the live auction starting at 8 p.m.

“A lot of people look forward to this event every year and some may be disappointed in the postponement,” says Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Val Giannettino. “But safety is our top concern and we want to make sure everyone can enjoy a relaxing evening.”

The Great Tastes fundraiser is a silent and live auction during which guests enjoy a wide variety of wines, beer, ales, and spirits from several beverage merchants. PZAZZ! chefs provide a wide selection of delicious appetizers and desserts throughout the evening.

“This is the first Great Tastes that I’ve planned with my team since joining the SCC family last year, and I’m excited to do my part to raise money for our students,” says Giannettino. “But first, we need to consider the safety of our generous attendees, hardworking volunteers, students, and vendors.”

Giannettino says the planning committee has arranged a hybrid bidding system for the silent auction.

“We’re trying a new bidding system that will combine mobile and on-site bidding,” she explains. “For those who don’t feel tech-savvy, we will have trained volunteers available all night to offer support.”

Participants will have the opportunity to begin bidding on silent auction items days in advance of the May 1 event.

Charity auctioneers from Fraise Auction & Realty Company will auction off items donated by employees, students, alumni, and friends of SCC. Auction items include gourmet dinners, boat rides, original artworks, hand-made jewelry, home improvement services, trips, event and athletic tickets, and many other specialty items.

Individual tickets are $50 each in advance or $60 at the door. Sponsor tables for eight people are $500 and include reserved seating, close proximity to the auction stage, party favors, hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and the opportunity to promote the sponsor’s business with their own table decorations.
