IOWA CITY – Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced an additional round of grants for community health centers located across Iowa’s Second Congressional District. These grants come from the Health Center funding in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was the third piece of legislation passed by Congress in response to the COVID-19 virus. These funds are in addition to the funding they already receive from the federal government and meant to directly help combat the COVID-19 virus. Details are below.

“Community health centers are on the frontlines in the fight against the COVID-19 virus. It is imperative that we ensure they have the tools and resources necessary to properly care for Iowans in this time of need,” said Loebsack. “The COVID-19 virus has affected many folks across our state, and we must allow everyone, no matter their financial situation, to have access to the healthcare they need. I will continue my efforts to ensure Iowans receive the healthcare they need in order to stay safe and healthy.”

Specifically, funding provided in the CARES Act for community health centers in Iowa’s Second District, includes:

  • Burlington – $808,490 for Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa, Inc,
  • Davenport – $1,233,420 for Community Health Care, Inc.
  • Leon – $713,615 for Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa, Inc.
  • Ottumwa – $976,040 for River Hills Community Health Center, Inc.
