Local groups get Alliant Foundation grants

Two Fort Madison organizations receive money in Spring grant cycle.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – May 20, 2020 – A total of 21 area nonprofit organizations have received community grants totaling $24,426 from Alliant Energy through its Foundation.
The grants fund projects in four key areas: Helping Families, Education, Environment and Public Safety.
“We know our nonprofit partners need our support now more than ever,” said Julie Bauer, Executive Director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “In partnership with these organizations, we are supporting our customers and the communities we serve in creative ways and helping to make life better for others.”
These community grants are among 237 the Alliant Energy Foundation awarded for the spring grant cycle, totaling nearly $550,000.
Local groups receiving funds included the Test Kitchen Education Foundation (Elliott Test Kitchen) for the Test Kitchen STEM Lounge and Fort Madison Beautification Foundation for Park Rehabilitation. The amounts of each grant were not provided.
Houghton/Cedar Township got a grant to help upgrade a thermal imaging camera and Denmark Fire Assocation, Inc received a grant to help with its "Hot Heads and a Brighter Future" program.
Burlington grants went to the Burlington Police Department for an AED power pack supply, Community Action of Southeast Iowa for home needs and Southeastern Community College of the CHAD Youth Mentoring Program.
