FORT MADISON - Fort Madison Partners is once again starting the engines on the annual fundraiser for the city's fireworks display on July 4th.

It's the 12th year that the Partners, along with a combined effort of the Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Madison Economic Development Corporation and the Fort Madison Southeast Iowa Regional Riverboat Commission will coordinate the display.

"While this has been an extremely unusual year and many of you have endured hardships when it comes to your business and services, as we get closer to our Nation’s Celebration of Independence we are hoping for that continued financial support in sponsoring the Fort Madison Fireworks show," said Partners Executive Director Tim Gobble.

He said reduced travel plans could lead to more citizens than normal being on hand for the show.

"Fort Madison’s production has always been one of the area’s best shows, which is a testament to our community’s continued support and it couldn’t happen without it," he said.

Partners have once again contacted with J&M Displays to do the show this year.

The fireworks will once again be shot off on July 4th at dark from Riverview Park, allowing the community to enjoy a wonderful display right on the mighty Mississippi.

Approximately $20,000 is needed each year just for the fireworks alone, not counting any additional event expenses. It takes the work of many to create this spectacular celebration, and we are hopeful our community will continue to financially support this.

The fireworks display depends on this type of support, and we encourage each individual or business to please consider contributing to help make the 2020 fireworks display the best it can be, Gobble said.

If you’re able to make that commitment, please send your contribution to:

All contributions of $1,000 or more will be featured with a photo in the Daily Democrat and Pen City Current as well as social media. Once the event is over, a listing of all contributors will be mentioned in a final Thank You Letter to the Editor.
