Lee County Conservation to open more facilities this weekend

Posted

LEE COUNTY - Lee County Conservation will be reopening additional facilities this weekend, including cabin rentals with a few exceptions.

“Moving forward, users will need to bring their own kitchen supplies. We are also limiting rentals to weekends to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 between user groups by spacing rentals further apart," said Nathan Unsworth, LCCD director.

"If people would like to rent for a whole week, they can, but they will need to call our office to make those reservations."

Certain restrooms and shower houses will be open this weekend at Chatfield, Pollmiller, and Wilson Lake. LCC staff will be cleaning bathrooms daily.

"We will not have every restroom open, but we will have most of them open in the busier parks. This summer, we are not planning to set portable toilets at satellite areas," Unsworth said.

LCC naturalists have canceled all face-to-face educational programs through June. Naturalists are planning a few online public programs. They are also creating other activities like the story stroll along the Pollmiller Trail that families can do on their own. More information about these activities will be available soon. LCC hopes to resume face-to-face programming in July or August.

LCC is working to open the Pollmiller Beach towards the middle of June.

"Our operations at Pollmiller Beach will look different this year. The staff is exploring how we can reopen to ensure people can enjoy their time at the beach while practicing social distancing guidelines," Unsworth said.
