LEE COUNTY - Lee County has seen its first child test positive for the COVID-19 illness since the outbreak began in March.

According to Lee County Health Department officials one child age 17 or under was identified in a Thursday release. The child is currently in isolation. Local officials do not release specific ages or genders of those listed as testing positive, only categorical information.

This makes 24 confirmed cases in Lee County to date. LCHD is also reporting a total of 18 cases as recovered.

On Wednesday LCHD officials released two additional positives in older adults.

As of yesterday 613 Lee County residents had been tested for the coronavirus with a positive rate of 3.9%. The county has not seen a death related to the illness and from May 8-16 had no additional cases. However, Thursday's announcement was the third consecutive day with a positive case announcement and fourth positive in the last six days, according to the state's coronavirus website at https://coronavirus.iowa.gov.

Lee County Health Department's website, www.leecountyhd.org, and their Facebook page, will continue to be updated with publishable information as it becomes available.
