DONNELLSON - A two-run homer by Makayla Morrison sparked a three-run second inning that would prove to be all Central Lee would need in a 7-1 win over visiting Danville Monday night.

The Hawks (1-0) put up three in the second and three more again in the sixth to put the game away.

Danville started the scoring in the bottom of the first. After Sophie Turner struck out the first two hitters, Morgan Waste singled and would come around to score on a single by Carlea Beckman, but the Lady Hawks would throw out another runner trying to score on the play to end the inning.

After a scoreless bottom of the first. Halo Arrowood opened the bottom of the second with a single and advanced to second on Meghan Hopp's grounder to the right side. Turner would reach on an infield single, but a throwing error scored Arrowood and allowed Turner to reach third. Andrea Benner would fan for the second out and then Morrison hit an 0-1 pitch out to center for the 3-1 lead.

Daly Brisby would add a solo shot in the third inning to make it 4-1.

Turner had the game on cruise control facing the minimum three hitters in three of the last four innings including the seventh to close it out.

The Hawks started the bottom of the sixth inning with four straight singles by Arrowood, Hopp, Turner and Benner.

Arrowhead and Hopp would score in the mix, and Turner would score on a ground out to short by Morrison to button things up for Central Lee.

Arrowood, Hopp, and Brisby each had two hits in the win. Morrison led Central Lee with three RBI and Benner had two.

Turner went the distance for the Lady Hawks scattering five hits and striking out six to get her first win of the year.
