MT. PLEASANT - Landes Williams and Jason Thurman both had three hits in a 10-4 win in the second game and split a double header on the road at Mt. Pleasant.

Mt. Pleasant won the first game 8-5.

The Hounds trailed 3-1 after four innings, but in the top of the fifth Matt Hopper and Garett Hannum both drew walks to lead off the inning. Landes Williams would single to load the bases and Thurman drew a walk to score Hopper. Brandon Reichelt then sacrificed Hannum home with a deep fly ball to center to knot the game at 3.

The Panthers went down on three straight fly balls on just six pitches in the bottom half of the fifth to hold the score at 3-3.

Kane Williams got plunked to start the top of the sixth. After Tate Johnson flew out to right, Matt Hopper, Garrett Hannum, Landes Williams, and Thurman recorded consecutive singles. Kane Williams crossed on a wild pitch giving the Hounds their first lead of the night at 4-3 and then Hopper and Hannum both scored off Williams' and Thurman's bat for a 6-3 lead.

Jaxon Hoyle would score an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth after being walked and moving around on two additional Hound walks before scoring on a hit batsman. Fort Madison would get a strikeout and flyout to retire the side.

The Hounds would put the game way in the top of the seventh with four runs on five hits. Thurman would hold the Panthers scoreless in the seventh in a relief role.

Landes Williams went 3 for 5 with two RBI, while Thurman went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Hopper had two hits for the Hounds in the win.

In the opener, Vasin Thurman led the way for the Hounds at the plate going 2-for 3. Reichelt went 1 for 2 with an RBI in the 8-5 loss.

Fort Madison trailed 8-1 going into the seventh inning before putting a scare into the Panthers late.

Jason Thurman wore a pitch to start things and then Reichelt doubled to center, scoring Thurman. Vasin Thurman then singled, scoring Riechelt. Reiburn Turnbull singled, moving Thurman up. Tate Johnson got beaned and Colten Engeman and Kane Williams both drew walks to force in two runs without any outs.

But Hannum would fan, and then Landes Williams would hit into a game ending double play at third to end the rally and the game.

Jace Burgher started the game but left in the game at the start of the second after sliding hard into third in the first inning and couldn't take the mound to start the next inning. Kane Williams came on in relief and threw four innings giving up five runs on six hits and fanning three.

Hopper closed out that set pitching the sixth, striking out two and allowing one hit.

The Hounds are now 1-1 on the year and take on Burlington Thursday night with a 7 p.m. start time. The game originally slated to be played at BHS, has been moved to Community Field.
