FMCH Foundation cancels golf outing

FORT MADISON - Fort Madison Community Hospital has cancelled the 2020 Golf Classic event currently scheduled for August 21, 2020. The decision was made due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation.

“With the continuing spread of COVID-19 and the unpredictable nature of this pandemic, we believe it is the best decision. Our priority is and always will be the physical and emotional health, safety, and well-being of our community. We all need to do our part to protect our loved ones, our local and global community, and ourselves. Canceling our golf tournament is therefore the only responsible choice,” explained Carrie Green, FMCH Foundation.

This annual event is the largest fundraising event for the organization historically raising over $50,000 for the FMCH Foundation.

“It is difficult to walk away from this event, especially at this time when the hospital is experiencing significant operating loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Green commented.

“We encourage our teams and corporate sponsors to consider making a donation to the FMCH Foundation in lieu of their normal sponsorship of the event.”

Plans are for the FMCH Foundation Golf Classic to return in June of 2021.
