FAIRFIELD - Fort Madison hit a bump on the road at Fairfield Monday night dropping both games of a double header 2-10 in the opener and 12-0 in a two-and-half-inning affair in the night cap.

Neeley Rehm went all six innings for Fort Madison in the opener giving up 10 runs, just four earned on nine hits and eight walks.

Fairfield's Allison Rebling got four of Fort Madison's first seven hitters to strike out through two innings. Only a Dalyn Wondra walk with one out in the second would give Fort Madison a base runner through two.

Fort Madison spotted the Lady Trojans three in the bottom of the first highlighted by a two-run single from Jenna Norris with one out to open the game.

Rebling would ground out to Kylee Cashman at short to make it 4-0 through two innings.

Lauryn Helmick hit a one-out single in the top of third and then Logan Johnson homered to left field for Fort Madison's only runs of the night. Cashman would ground out and Lexi Whaley would single on a hard liner back to up the middle off Rebling. Ivy Geerdes would ground out stranding courtesy runner Kendall Beebe at first.

Fairfield would add four more in the bottom of the third. Two errors and a single loaded the bases with one out. A walk to Brynley Allison would score one and then a two-run single by Delaney Breen brought in two more. A one-out sacrifice fly to center by Rebling scored the final run of the inning.

Fort Madison would put two on again with two outs in the fourth, but another Rebling strikeout ended the inning.

Johnson was stranded in the fifth after leading off with a single and the Hounds went three-up, three-down in the sixth. Johnson again would get a two-out single in the seventh, but Rebling would end the game with a strike out.

Fairfield would put up insurance runs in the sixth and seventh for the 10-2 win.

Erica Kruse started in the circle in a quick second game that saw the Trojans put up 12 runs in the first two innings to invoke the 12-run rule after three innings of play.

The Trojans put up three runs in the first inning where Kruse gave up three walks and two hits. A Breen RBI single with two outs gave the Trojans a 3-0 lead.

The Hounds threatened in the top of the second with Maycee Featheringill singling with out to center and Kendall Beebe getting hit by a pitch. Wondra would hit into a fielder's choice for the second out and Emily Steffensmeier would ground out to second to strand two.

Fairfield would open the flood gates in the second when Kruse surrendered five singles and five walks before being replaced by Lauryn Helmick. The Trojans also scored on two passed balls as the wheels fell off for Fort Madison.

Aside from a one-out Cashman single, Fairfield's Coty Engle would get a fly out and a ground out to end the game after the top of the third.
