Task force arrests three on drug charges

LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of a Fort Madison man on Felony and Misdemeanor charges.

Timothy Smith, 43, of Fort Madison, Iowa was arrested on June 24th, 2020 following an interaction near the intersection of 28th St. / Ave. O in Fort Madison, Iowa. Smith was picked up for his outstanding warrants for Violation of Parole, Interference with Official Acts, Driving under Suspension and Open Container. Smith was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine a Class D Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.

The arrest of Smith stems from active patrol conducted by the Fort Madison Police Department. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force were contacted to further the investigation.

The Fort Madison Police Department, and The Lee County Attorney’s Office, assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation.

In an unrelated arrest, Boyd Sutton, 38, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on June 26th, 2020 following a search warrant on his residence at 803 Bank St. in Keokuk, Iowa. Sutton was picked up on his outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear on a Driving While Barred charge.

Sutton was additionally charged with 2 counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams, each a Class C Felony; Possession with Intent to Deliver Schedule IV Drugs an Aggravated Misdemeanor, Maintaining a Drug House an Aggravated Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.

Jessica Clark, 39, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on June 29th, 2020 following a search warrant on her residence, also at 803 Bank St. in Keokuk. Clark was charged with Possession of Marijuana a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.

The arrest of Sutton and Clark stems from an ongoing investigation conducted by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force where drugs were being sold out of their home.

The defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
