Task force makes three arrests for possession of pot

LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of a St. Louis man and woman on Felony drug charges.

Christopher Baretich, 29, and Alexandra Mayhall, 27, both of St. Louis, MO were arrested on July 26th, 2020 in Argyle, IA. Baretich and Mayhall were both charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana a Class D Felony and traffic citations for Speeding and Failure to have a valid driver’s license each a simple misdemeanor.

The arrest of Baretich and Mayhall stems from a traffic stop investigation for speeding conducted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. This investigation lead to the discovery of over one half pound of marijuana located in the vehicle. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force was contacted to assist in the investigation.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lee County Attorney’s Office, assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation.

In an unrelated arrest, Carlos Clay Jr., 28, of Cahoki, IL was arrested on July 24th, 2020 in the 2100 Block of Hwy 218 in Donnellson, Iowa. Clay is charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver a Class D Felony; Drug Tax Stamp Violation a Class D Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.

The arrest of Clay stems from a Traffic Stop investigation conducted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office where over 100 grams of marijuana was located. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force furthered the investigation.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation.

The defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Justice and the funds administered by the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.
