Victims identified in Tuesday Hwy. 2 accident

DONNELLSON - The victims of an accident near Donnellson on Tuesday evening have been released by the Iowa State Patrol.

Michael D. Horn, 67, of Donnellson and Linda S. Horn, 66, of Donnellson, were both killed when the motorcycle they were riding on was struck in a construction zone near mile marker 250 at about 5:30 p.m.

According to the state patrol report, the Horns were on a motorcycle facing east bound stopped in a string of vehicles waiting in the construction zone. They were behind a 2021 Mack construction dump truck, when a 2005 Nissan Frontier pickup driven by Chad R. Davis, 54, also of Donnellson, struck the motorcycle from behind pinning the couple between the two trucks.

Davis was transported to Fort Madison Community Hospital by Lee County Ambulance with injuries. The victims were transported to the medical examiners office, according to the report.

No arrests have been made in the incident. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Lee County Attorney's office.
