Ronald C. Hines, Sr.,74, of Donnellson, IA, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 9:23 AM at his home.

   He was born on September 24, 1945 in Keokuk to Cary and Thelma Tollman Hines. He was raised on the farm near Kahoka until his family moved to Indianola where he finished his education and graduated from high school in 1963.  Ron worked in Des Moines after graduation and served in the US Reserves for several years.   On February 20, 1966 he married Sharon Burich in Indianola, IA.  Ron and Sharon moved to Memphis, MO and he worked at Electro Metals and then IAAP as a guard.  They then moved to Franklin and he worked at DuPont and then was a guard at ISP.  Ron also drove semi for N.A. Van Lines and also hauled grain.  Ron then worked at JI Case and retired after thirty years of service.  He was a lifetime member of UAW Local 807 and served on the board of directors at Casebine Credit Union.  He was very proud of his twenty nine years of sobriety. 

  Ron enjoyed camping, traveling and reading.  He loved working in the yard and especially enjoyed decorating it at Christmas time.  He enjoyed collecting duck statues, antiques, being out outdoors and loved his dogs.

  Survivors include his wife, Sharon Hines of Donnellson; one son, Ronald (Sarah) Hines Jr. of Ft. Madison; granddaughter, Melody Hines of Coralville; three step grand daughters and their children.   He was preceded in death by his parents. 

   Friends may call after 2 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at King-Lynk Funeral Home where the family will meet with friends from 5-6 PM.  A private burial will take place in Mennonite Cemetery in Primrose.
