Robert B. “Bob” Nicholson, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.  He was born March 5, 1941 in LaSalle, Illinois, a son of Robert M. and Henrietta (Ploch) Nicholson.  On December 30, 1984 in Bridgeview, Illinois, he married Sandra Kay “Sandy” Overfelt.  

Bob worked as a conductor and engineer for Santa Fe Railroad, Keokuk Junction, Chicago Central, Illinois Central, Canadian National, and Illinois Rail Net, retiring in 2001.  He is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attends the Kingdom Hall, Montrose, Iowa.  

He is survived by two daughters, Kari (Rick) Medearis of Forrest, Illinois and Janeen (Jim) Carter of North Carolina;  three step sons: Louis (Teresa) Renfroe of Lockport, Illinois; Jeffrey (Miriam) Renfroe of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; and James (Joy) Renfroe of Illinois; one step daughter, Kimberly (Don) Carlson of Fort Madison; one brother, Brad Nicholson of Ladd, Illinois; one sister, Rhoda (Bob) Hobneck of Tonica, Illinois; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter Mindy, and one sister  Richey Lambert.

Per his wishes, his body has been cremated.  A memorial talk at the Kingdom Hall will be held at a later date. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Nicholson family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
