LEE COUNTY - Effective at 2 p.m. Monday, the Lee County Treasurer's office is temporarily closed to the public.

A release was issued by Lee County Auditor Denise Fraise on Monday saying the office is closed until further notice.

She could not give an explanation as to the closing other than to say she hopes it's just through the week.

Fraise said people with appointments for motor vehicle services this week should be getting a call to reschedule, but couldn't confirm when the office would reopen.

She said residents can still conduct business online, by mail, or by drop box. The drop boxes are located in the alley behind the County Office Building in Fort Madison and on Blondeau Street near the Keokuk Courthouse.

The Auditor’s Office in Fort Madison will accept property tax payments from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
