LEE COUNTY - A Davenport man was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 27 about eight miles north of the Missouri border just before 6 p.m.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 1994 GMC Sonoma driven by 50-year-old Michael Brayton, II, of Davenport drove into the back of a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by Taylor Fields, 20 of Fulton, Mo.

Brayton lost control of his vehicle going off the right hand side of the road. The report indicates Brayton came back onto the roadway and then swerved back to the right before his vehicle flipped and slid into the east ditch. Brayton was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Patrol officials said the accident is still under investigation.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies and Lee County EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
