DONNELLSON, IOWA — The Central Lee Community School District has announced the 2020 inductees to its Athletic Hall of Fame.

Four former student-athletes and a former teacher and coach are being honored this year. Alumni inductees include Judith (Hodson) Finney (Class of 1958), Brian Wells (1989), Angie (Schinstock) Fransk (2000) and Brad Vogel (2010).

Larry Avery, who served as varsity baseball coach and in numerous other capacities in Central Lee for 30 years, was also inducted this year.

The Athletic Hall of Fame was created as a means of recognizing, preserving and promoting Central Lee's rich history and tradition of excellence in athletics. The award emphasizes the importance of high-achieving graduates and former staff members who made a big impact on the school community during their time in Central Lee.

“We have a strong tradition of excellence throughout our athletic programs here at Central Lee,” said Dr. Andy Crozier, CLCSD Superintendent.

"These incredible athletes and coaches certainly made the most of their time in our district, racking up a wide range of impressive accomplishments. It is an honor to celebrate and recognize these outstanding individuals as the inaugural class of our Athletic Hall of Fame.”

Earlier this year, Central Lee CSD launched its new Academic, Athletic and Fine Arts Halls of Fame, which are part of the district's alumni recognition program. Families, staff, alumni and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals for recognition. A Hall of Fame committee then reviews all nominations and determines each year's inductees.

For individuals to qualify for a nomination, they must have graduated from Central Lee schools or have been a staff member. They also must be at least five years removed from their time in the district. The nomination form is available at https://bit.ly/CLHOFNomination
