Josephine Marie Waterman, 91, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020.

She was born on July 29, 1929, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald R. and Marie (McCune) Salter. On August 1, 1948, she married Edward LaVerne Waterman in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Survivors include three children: Maggie Kelly of Nauvoo, Gerald Enoch (Conda) Waterman of Niota and Patrick Joseph (Laura) Waterman of Bushnell; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister: Ellen Baldwin of Hamilton and one niece: Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Edward; one daughter: Nancy; two grandsons and two sisters.

Josephine was a graduate of Nauvoo High School. She worked at Flora Thumbs Restaurant, I.R.C. and Sheaffer Pen Co. She was a member of Appanoose Faith Presbyterian Church. Josephine enjoyed sewing, embroidering, cooking, bird watching, gardening, reading and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Appanoose Township Cemetery, rural Niota, Illinois, with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating.

Burial will be at Appanoose Township Cemetery, Rural Niota.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
