FORT MADISON - The folks at Old Fort Players are multi-tasking as fast as they can! While Robbie Phillips directs and records multiple Carol Burnett Show skits, Jan Jud has assembled a cast of eleven to perform three Vintage Hitchcock Plays.

The single performance happens at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 11th. (Rain date is Oct. 18th) Perfect for the approach of Halloween, this spine-tingling show will be performed at Old Settlers Park in broad daylight, though you may still have trouble sleeping.

Entertaining you this time will be Richard Martindale (Bleacher Bums and The Carol Burnett Show Skits), Angie Holland (new OFP but not to theater), Jadi Zioui (What to Expect When You’re Expecting Your In-Laws, and Twelve Days Of Christmas), Xandra Abel (The Dividing Tree, and If the Good Lord’s Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise), Ty Clute (Barefoot In The Park, and Making God Laugh), Rosie Strickland (Drinking Habits, and Twelve Days Of Christmas), Juniper Strickland (Homework Eats Dog, and Rules of Comedy), Sunshine Zioui (Twelve Days Of Christmas, and Homework Eats Dog),Jeremiah Bauswell, Alice Rose and Sydney Amberger (all new to OFP).

Written by Joe Landry, the three short plays include, The Lodger (about Jack The Ripper and his unsuspecting landlady), Sabotage (a classic spy thriller) and The 39 Steps, (a great mix of murder and love as only Hitchcock can imagine!) Actors will be filling multiple roles throughout each of the three stories as well as doing live commercials in vintage radio show style. The comic relief will be a nice break from the nerve-wracking tension from the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock.

So, bring a chair and mask up, it’s sure to be a scary and entertaining show for the whole family. Concessions will be available for sale. No tickets will be sold, but a free will offering will be collected. We ask that you generously support Old Fort Players as they work hard to keep paying the bills. The pandemic lockdown has made paying for monthly expenses very difficult. A live Facebook stream of a Carol Burnett skit brought in some donation money as well as two days of rummage sale.

“We are grateful for all the support we’ve received, but we are still unable to do business as usual and that hurts,” President Robbie Philips said. “We miss going on stage and entertaining people as much as they miss going out and enjoying live theater. Any help folks can provide will keep us going until we can open up again.”

The Old Fort Players have been entertaining the community since 1981 are located in downtown Fort Madison at 725 Avenue G. Call 319-372-9559 for more information. Like them on Facebook or visit www.oldfortplayers.com to keep up with everything that’s going on at the theater.
