Burlington takes Lady Hounds in four

FORT MADISON - The Burlington Grayhounds rebounded from a first set loss to take a 3-1 win over Fort Madison in a battle for the top of the Southeast Conference Thursday at the Hound Dome.

Fort Madison took the first set 25-19 , but then fell in three straight 22-25, 14-25, 13-25.

Lauren Bailey had 22 assists and 17 digs in the loss for the Hounds (4-1, 5-12), Reyna Lampe had eight kills and was 18 of 18 serving with three aces.

Kailyn Guzman had six kills and Lauren King and Logan Johnson each had four.

Nadia Boeding and Madison Pirri each had 16 digs from the backside of the Fort Madison rotation.

Fort Madison starts the Southeast Conference Tournament on Tuesday with pool play in Fairfield beginning at 5 p.m. Masks are mandatory for all spectators.

Fort Madison enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face Fairfield, Washington and Mt. Pleasant on Oct. 6. The second round is on Oct. 13, where the Bloodhounds will take on Keokuk and Burlington in Mt. Pleasant with a 5 p.m. start.
