County hits 700 positive cases over weekend

LEE COUNTY - Positive COVID tests in Lee County surpassed the 700 mark over the weekend.

A daily report issued Monday afternoon showed the county at 700 positive cases with 515 reported as recovered and a 14-day average positivity rate of 8.7%.

The state is now showing a positivity rate of 11.3% on more than 789,500 tests reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

However Lee County, which experienced a high of 40 back on Aug. 25, 2020, and then 34 the following day, has been in the single digits of new positive cases 12 of the last 14 days.

The top two age groups with positive ratings are 18-40 at 34% and 41-60 at 33%. Older adults age 61-80 represent 19% of the positive cases, while children 0-17 account for 10% of the cases and elderly over the age of 80 are 3%.

According to the IDPH, 61% of those in Lee County who test positive are symptomatic, 23% are still under investigation and 13% are asymptomatic.

One in five Lee County residents has been tested on average with 6,012 testing negative.

Des Moines County is now showing 896 positive cases with a 9.5% positivity rating with 9,293 individuals tested and has a 9.1% 14-day rate. Henry County has has 842 individuals test positive with an overall positivity rating of 15.6% with a 16.4% 14-day average.
