Rebecca Sue “Susie” Mortimer, 69 of Warsaw, IL died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her son’s home in Keokuk, IA.  

     She was born September 14, 1951 in Elvaston, IL the youngest daughter of thirteen children to Charley and Willena Cravens Rhodes.  Susie was united in marriage to Marty Mortimer in 1971.  To this union two children, Johnothan and Steven were born.  They later divorced.

     Susie had been employed at Henniges in Keokuk for thirty-six years, until her retirement in 2013.

     Throughout her life she delighted in crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing and created beautiful gifts for her family and friends.  Susie also enjoyed baking delicious treats, especially her cherry vanilla walnut fudge.  Susie had many cats over her lifetime and they always had a special place in her heart.  Most of all, she loved taking care of her family and spending time with them.

     She is survived by two sons, Johnothan Mortimer (Justina) of Keokuk and Steven Mortimer (Melissa) of Alexandria, MO, seven grandchildren, Seith Boudreau, Johnothan Mortimer, Jr., Joseph “Rollie” Mortimer, Rowdy Mortimer, Alisha May, Alex May (Denette) and Ashley May, numerous great-grandchildren, one sister, Nina Rubemeyer of Ft. Madison, IA, numerous nieces and nephews, along with her caregivers, Helen “Terry” Whittler, Patty Tichenor, Teresa Mason and Louise Shuman.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and two sisters.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Jenny Dougherty officiating.  Burial will be in the Elvaston Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10- 11 a.m., at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.

     Social distancing requirements will be in place and attendees may be limited according to those requirements. Masks are strongly encouraged.
