ELDON - Holy Trinity got in and out of Cardinal's gym with a three-set sweep of the Comets Thursday, a welcome reprise from a rough past week.

The Crusaders rolled 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 behind a dozen kills from Claire Pothitakis, who also was a perfect 16-16 serving with an ace. Pothitakis just missed two attacks all night.

Kassi Randolph and Mary Kate Bendlage each had six kills in the win. Natalie Randolph and Marie Rauenbuehler each had 12 digs from the back of the rotation to lead HTC. Kassi Randolph had 12 assists and Bailey Hellweg had 10.

The Crusaders move to 18-7 on the year and slipped three spots to No. 6 in Class 1 rankings on Thursday.

Last week the Crusaders found themselves embroiled in two five-set losses on the road to WACO last Thursday, and then again at West Burlington on Tuesday.

On the Falcon's court Tuesday night, the Crusaders came flying back from being down 2-0 after a 25-13 second set loss. HTC rebounded with back-to-back 25-17, 25-18 wins to force a tie breaker to 15, but West Burlington would get their first 15-9.

The Crusaders went to Pothitakis early and often and the senior was 44 of 58 attacking on the night with 19 kills. Kassi Randolph and Brooke Mueller combined for 24 kills on the night.

West Burlington's front line put up 16 blocks to Holy Trinity's nine to pull some of the attack out of the Crusader's game.

Maria Rauenbuehler had 18 digs for HTC against the Falcons. Kassi Randolph and Hellweg combined for 40 assists for HTC.

The girls travel to Pella on Saturday for the Pella Tournament where they'll face Pella, Knoxville, Mediapolis, and Bondurant-Farrar all the same day.
