Bloodhounds finish SEC tourney 3-2

MT. PLEASANT - Fort Madison split day two of the Southeast Conference tournament at Mt. Pleasant with a straight set win over Keokuk before falling to Burlington in a tie breaker.

Mt. Pleasant won the tournament going 4-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of the Bloodhounds in a 15-17 tiebreaker.

Fort Madison lost to Fairfield in the first day a week ago in three sets before beating Washington and Mt. Pleasant both in a tie breakers.

On Tuesday, Fort Madison blew past the Keokuk in the first set 25-7 and then wrapped things up 25-15 in the second set.

Alaina Simpson and Logan Johnson each had six kills in the win. Lauren Bailey had 16 assists and was a perfect 13 of 13 serving with an aces. Reyna Lampe had five aces in the match Nadia Boeding and Madison Pirri each had six digs.

The Bloodhounds then lost to Burlington 14-25, 27-25, 6-15 in the final game of the tourney. Simpson had seven kills and Lampe had four in the match. Bailey had 22 digs and 16 assists to go with 10 of 10 serving and two aces. Taylor Barnes was also 10 of 10 serving.

Fort Madison (10-15) travels to Mediapolis tonight as part of a quadrangular there with Mediapolis, Holy Trinity Catholic and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
