PEKIN/WILLIAMSBURG - Central Lee senior Amanda Gilpin and Holy Trinity Catholic's Mitchell Pothitakis will make the trip to Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge on Halloween.

Gilpin placed 14th in the girls 5K qualifier at Williamsburg in Class 2A with a time of 21:20.3. Only the top 15 girls qualify to run at the state meet.

Pothitakis placed ninth at the Pekin Class 1A boys 5K. His time was still not available as of this posting, but Class 1A was broken into eight qualifying meets this year instead of five, with the top 10 runners at each location earning a trip to the state meet.

Central Lee's girls took 7th place overall with 184 points. Mid-Prairie won the event with 21 points. Williamsburg and Danville-New London also advanced as teams.

Other scoring runners for the Lady Hawks were sophomore Addy Brumble and freshman Olivia Kraus. The two finished back-to-back with times of 24:56.3 and 24:57.6 for 39th and 40th place

Senior Brianna Gruntmeier was 43rd with a time of 25:38.2 and freshman Sidney Gruntmeier came in 48th place with a mark of 26:20.0.

Other runners competing for Central Lee were juniors Adrienne Britt (52nd) and Emmy Liu (53rd).

Details on Holy Trinity's boy's team will be published as soon as data is available.
