HTC 7th grader girls start year out 0-4

FORT MADISON - The Holy Trinity Catholic girls 7th grade basketball team has had a rough start to the year, but almost broke through for a win Tuesday night.

The girls fell to Van Buren 19-15 behind seven points from Emma Mohrfeld. Ellie Lake had six in the loss and Izzy Wheatley-Behne had a bucket for the Crusaders.

On Monday HTC fell to 28-20 to Danville in West Point. Lake had 11 points in the win. Lia Fullenkamp had four points, McKayla Schinstock and Mohrfeld each had two, while Sarah Menke added a point.

The girls also fell to Central Lee 35-16 last week. Schinstock, Lake and Clara Blint all had four points in the loss. Menke and Morhfeld each had a bucket.

In the season opener, HTC lost 25-9 to Winfield-Mt. Union. Wheatley-Behne had a 3-pointer for her three points and Menke scored three to lead the Crusaders. Morhfeld had two and Lake had a free throw in the loss.
