William Eugene Schulze, 85, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Cedar View Nursing & Rehabilitation, Lebanon, Ohio.

William was born on November 27, 1934 in Kiowa, Kansas, the son of Newell F. and Emma (Day) Schulze.

William was raised in the Durham, Illinois community and graduated from the Dallas City, Illinois High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois and his Masters Degree at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

William worked as a chemist for 29 years for Emery Chemicals in Cincinnati, Ohio, retiring in 1993. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 - 1959 where he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Survivors include one nephew, James Ragona.

William was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Weigert and Alice Ragona and his uncle and aunt, Collin and Irene Wilcox.

Services will be held at 10:30am Friday, November 20, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, Illinois with Rev. Lee Unger officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation but friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday between 1:00 and 7:00pm.
