Jerry Elliott,73, of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness with COVID.
Jerry Lived in Missouri during his childhood and moved to Van Buren County in his teens and lived there most of his life, except for a brief California adventure.
He leaves behind his wife of 45 years: Margo Elliott (Stone); son: Dean (Tami) Boughner; two daughters: Libby (Mitch Wynschenk) Boughner; and Angela (Joe Holton) Elliott; son-in-law: Travis Lacy (Natalie Lacy); grandchildren: Austin Gire, Joshua Boughner, Jordan Gire, Aiden Lacy and two great grandchildren: GraceLynn and Bentley; sisters: Marilyn Thomas, Zelma Muntz; brothers: Junior, Francis, Dean. Also surviving are many more family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Emmett and Rose (Anderson) Elliott and his daughter: Patricia Rose Lacy.
Jerry started his career as a mechanic at a young age because of his passion for working on any type of engine he could get his hands on. He later went into logging and then driving those BIG OL’ semi trucks across country. In his later years, he enjoyed his time working with his friends within the Amish Community, but his main passion was his grandkids and his family always came first.
He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Jerry’s body has been entrusted to Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2020, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.
Those attending are encouraged to wear masks and adhere to social distancing requirements.Burial will be at a later date in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
