FORT MADISON -- Kick off the holiday season in Fort Madison this weekend with the Parade of Lights, The Enchanted Forest, Black Friday Shopping and Mistletoe on Main. During these great events, we ask that you follow all of the Centers for Disease Control and Lee County Health Department guidelines. Please social distance, wear a mask when social distancing isn’t an option and stay home if you’re not feeling well.

The Parade of Lights will be held Downtown Fort Madison on Friday, November 27th at 6:30 pm. With over 35 lighted floats, this parade is sure to spark the holiday spirit! The parade will start at 11th Street and Avenue G. The floats will make their way through the Historic Downtown District and find their way to Riverview Park where they will sit through the end of the year. If you are unable to make it out, we will be live-streaming the parade on the Fort Madison Chamber’s Facebook Page.

After the Parade of Lights, stop in to the Enchanted Forest at 927 ½ Avenue G, directly behind Aldi. Twenty-five local businesses and organizations have worked hard to decorate trees for all to view. Kids will be able to write letters to Santa and leave them in the special mailbox in the workshop. Santa will be there for kids to visit with him at a distance. Experience the magic of the Enchanted Forest during the following times as well – November 28th from 10 am to 2 pm, Thursdays in December from 5-7 pm and Saturdays from 2-4 pm until the week before Christmas.

On Saturday, November 28th Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce will host Mistletoe on Main, a Holiday Open House. Held on Small Business Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the holiday spirit will shine bright as stores offer holiday savings and tasty treats for their customers. While you are searching for that one special gift, your family can ring in the holiday season with Mistletoe on Main activities.

New this year, Red Barn Reindeer will be in the MidWestOne Bank parking lot with two live reindeer! Learn about reindeer and enjoy an opportunity to take a photo with them between 12-2 pm. There will be fun for the whole family! Walk Main Street to visit the local stores and take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage that showcases our historic district. Tickets for the horse-drawn carriage rides are $3 per person and can be purchased on the corner of 9th and Avenue G during the event. Check out the “Mistletoe on Main” Facebook event for store specials and events that you will find at this magical event. Mistletoe on Main is the perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping while enjoying all that the holiday season has to offer.

Remember to Shop Local this holiday season!
