FMEDC shows support for Lake Cooper project

Posted

FORT MADISON - Bob Huffman, President of FMEDC, presents a 'Resolution of Support' to J.R. Noll, Project Liaison, and Director, Nathan Unsworth with the Lee County Conservation Board.
The Pool 19, Lake Cooper Wildlife Habitat Restoration project involves restoring and raising old islands inundated with the completion of the Keokuk Dam in 1913 and restoring fish and wildlife nesting and nursery areas. In addition, renewing areas capable of growing wild celery and other aquatic plants as food stocks for ducks, fish, and other critters. Also, improvements made with this project have the potential to create additional retail and recreational opportunities for in and beyond the area.
