Roger Dale Hoskins, 79 years, of Denmark, Iowa died Monday, November 30, 2020 at The Madison in Fort Madison, Iowa from complications of Parkinson’s. He was born November 27, 1941 in Fort Madison, the second son of Fred Nathaniel and Marcella (Mueller) Hoskins. On September 25, 1965, he married Irene Elizabeth Gingrich at the St. Paul’s UCC Church in Kahoka, Missouri.

Roger was a 1959 graduate of Fort Madison High School.  He first worked at Sheaffer Pen Company and then at CNH (Case New Holland), retiring after 30 years of service.  He was a member of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, where he served as head usher and as a Deacon.  Roger coached grade school basketball at Denmark Elementary, and Little League Baseball, as well as umpiring. He was a Iowa Hawkeye and Dodger fan.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Hoskins of Denmark, four children: Jennifer (Jerry) Kester of Riverside, Iowa;  Patricia Boyd of Fort Madison; Curtis (Lisa) Jones of Fort Madison; and Jocelyn (David) Cole of Elkhart, Indiana;  grandchildren: Dr. Kristen Waldschmidt, Jason Kester, Stacy (Andrew) King, Nathan (Amanda) Jones, Justin Cole, Heather Beelman, and Josh Beelman; great grandchildren, Max and Lauren Waldschmidt, Chance Decker, and Braydon Beelman; two brothers-in-law, Marvin (Kay) Gingrich of Denmark and Harold (Gladys) Gingrich of Woodland Hills, California; one sister, Darla (Jeff) Ross of Denmark; one sister-in-law, Patricia Hoskins of Davenport, Iowa; nieces and nephews.   He was preceded death by his parents, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald and Nancy Hoskins and Gary Hoskins, one grandson Jeremy Ranck, one son-in-law, Jeff Boyd, and two nephews.

Friends may call from 12:00 pm (noon) to 4:00 pm Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.   Due to concerns of Covid-19, the family regrets they will not be present to greet friends.  Masks and social distancing are required.  A private family burial will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.  A memorial has been established for the Denmark Fire and Rescue, contributions may be mail to Irene Hoskins, P.O.
