FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently approved a ‘Resolution of Support’ for the proposed Lee County Conservation Board Mississippi River project.
Board President Julie Hohl presents a resolution to J.R. Noll, Lee County Conservation Board Project Liaison.
The proposed wildlife project will raise old islands long flooded over by the completion of the Keokuk dam, and restore the tracts creating fish and wildlife nesting and nursery areas.
Reclaiming the wild celery, eel grass and various kinds of emergent and submergent vegetation are desperately needed for the thousands of flyway ducks that ply the skies above Lake Cooper, as well as fish and other critters.
