Alma Cora Dawson,83, of Ft. Madison passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 5:22 PM at the Montrose Health Care Center.

   She was born on November 20, 1937 in Henrietta, MO to William and Nina Maybelle Craig Tory. On October 18, 1954 she married Thomas Calhoun, Jr. in Burlington and he passed away on August 16, 1962. She then married Lester Dawson in Quincy, IL on December 31, 1976 and he passed away on July 9, 1993.   Alma was a housecleaner for many people for twenty one years.  She especially enjoyed hosting tea parties and watching TV.

   Survivors include three sons, Michael Calhoun of Bryan, TX, Clay Calhoun of Bryan, TX and Robert Calhoun of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Margie McCarl and Cynthia Greenwald both of Ft. Madison; one brother, Willie Tory of Ft. Madison; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Craig and Rick; a daughter in law, Rosie Calhoun,  a sister Genevieve Forquer and a brother, Thomas Tory.

   Per her wishes cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  The family will meet with friends on Monday, December 14, 2020 at King-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory from 12:30-1:30 and a graveside service will immediately follow in Soldier’s Circle, Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Les Featheringill officiating.
